Social Program & Events Print E-mail

The social program of the workshop aims to bring together all participants and their guests. It will include the Welcome Reception Cocktail, Workshop Dinner and Party, Farewell Drinks and also an excursion to the island museum of Delos.

Delos is very close to Mykonos and can be reached by boat in less than 30 minutes. Delos was the Sacred Island of the Ancient Greeks, and there remain admirable, well-preserved ruins of one of the largest, most significant, and best-organized ancient Greek settlements that have been excavated to date. The Archaeological Museum of Delos houses one of Greece’s most significant collections, including rare exhibits of ancient sculptured ceramic vessels, epigraphs and wonderful mosaics among other artifacts.

Delos has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The signature landmarks of Delos include among others:

  • The Terrace of the Lions dedicated to Apollo by the people of Naxos. This consists of seven squatting, snarling marble guardian lions that create a monumental avenue.
  • The small Sacred Lake in its circular bowl.
  • The Minoan Fountain and the Hellenistic Agora.
  • The Temple of the Delians.
  • The platform of the Stoivadeion dedicated to Dionysus.
  • The Doric Temple of Isis and the Temple of Hera.
  • The House of Dionysus and the House of the Dolphins.
